:- 5.0 out of 5 stars from jg -- Well written and encyclopedic but may struggle on the modern bookshelf : Received the book as a pre-order and it has all of the heavy hitters of the modern cocktail renaissance as contributors including the modern father of them all, David Wondrich orchestrating the entire production. As background, my current library is nearly 250 books of which a large portion (around 75) are vintage (pre-1960) so I am familiar with the writings of nearly all the contributors and their specialties. It’s very different to your everyday cocktail book and to be honest, in my opinion, it isn’t for the casual drinker. It’s for those who want to know about things. It’s comprehensive but funnily enough the first thing I looked for wasn’t there. I’d just bought a bottle of Advocaat (Warninks) as it’s the time of year it suddenly appears in Supermarkets… .Perhaps it will get into the next edition.
